Abortion after rape only causes more violence, bishop says

Bishop Cristobal Bialasik of Oruro, Bolivia said even the tragedy of rape or sexual abuse does not justify abortion, which only causes more violence and devastation.

Bishop Bialasik, who is also president of the Life and Family Foundation, made his comments on Sept. 30 during a local conference hosted by the organization.  

“Rape and abuse in society require the attention of authorities to ensure the safety of individuals. But in no way can they be a justification for abortion. 

These acts lead to even more violence than that which they supposed are going to solve,” he said.

Bishop Bialasik said it is important that the state take steps to protect human life in all its stages and to reject laws that go against its inherent dignity.

“The legalization of abortion means endorsing a crime against innocent children,” he said. “This move towards legalization is led by large international organizations that are driven by economic interests.”

“It is important to protect life and to not be fooled by these laws,” the bishop underscored. “Our country is large and we are able to have children according to the needs and plans of each family.”
